I recognize that I did jump the gun a bit, but I’m so used to seeing things shaming women into swallowing that when I see something like this it bothers me. Yes, it can be completely validly interpreted the way you did (and mostly was, judging by the notes on it) but can also be validly interpreted as coercing women to do something they’re not comfortable with. At times it’s easy to forget, with all of the strong women prevalent on Tumblr, that there are a ton of people in the world who are unsure of themselves and will err on trying to please their partner to avoid being rejected rather than making sure they’re comfortable with what they’re doing.

Posts that are worded like that one tend to trigger anger on my part, which is sometimes irrational. I grew up on the internet and posts like that lead me to believe that if I didn’t swallow I wouldn’t be desireable. It wasn’t until I met Jones that my belief in that changed. And even then, it was so internalized that the first time I gave him a blowjob I tried to swallow and nearly ended up throwing up. I was so ashamed of it that I don’t think Jones even knows about it to this day. It was a bad experience and I suppose I’m a little bitter about letting others influence me so much.

So I redact the “fuck you” to the author, since you’re right, I was hasty and kind of rude. But my interpretation and counterarguments stand, seeing as the name of the post is “Why you should swallow” rather than “And Argument for Swallowing.”
